In the days leading up to the race you want to be as relaxed as possible. You should be stretching and getting plenty of sleep but you should also consider having a sports massage before your race. Here’s why…
A good deep sports-massage will release toxins from your muscles. These toxins could otherwise cause tension within your muscles which can build throughout your race thus slowing you down. A sports massage will help release these toxins and, coupled with adequate hydration (2 litres per day), your muscles will be as relaxed as possible.
Don’t think that a sports-massage is particularly relaxing though. In fact, it can be painful at times during the treatment but it will pay dividends during your race.
